High in Omega 3 Fatty acids
Unsaturated fatty acids, notably Omega-3 fatty acids, are abundant in silkworm pupae oil (7). The active compounds found in silkworm pupae have been shown in various experimental investigations to have significant favorable effects on human health
Lowers oxidative stress and regulates metabolism
Silkworm pupa oil (SPO) contains unsaturated fatty acids, tocopherols, and phytosterols, which can regulate serum total cholesterol or be used as an antioxidant.
Good source of tocopherols
Silkworm pupae are a good source of thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin (Table 1). They contain about 10 mg tocopherols per 100 g, which is a much higher level than that found in other common foods.
